Farmer Johns

Country: GB-ENG

Farmer Johns MTB (FJMTB) is one of the UK’s best-kept secrets for riders who prefer technical flow over bike park polish. Set above the Lancashire valley, this rider-built network packs a surprising amount into short runs—making it perfect for sessioning, refining technique, and squeezing maximum riding into a few hours. And there are a lot of runs to choose from!

There’s no uplift here, but that’s part of the appeal. Quick push-ups keep the pace social and the energy high, with riders lapping sections, dialling features, and progressing line by line. Expect lots of interesting features and great lines that reward precision and confidence. It’s not about big vertical—it’s about getting better, faster, and smoother every run.

Rider tips

  • Plan for session riding – runs are short, so pick sections to repeat rather than rushing top-to-bottom every time.
  • Push-up efficiency matters – a steady rhythm between laps beats going all-out and burning out early.
  • Lines evolve constantly – this is a rider-built spot, so expect subtle changes and fresh options each visit.
  • Watch before you send – many features have multiple lines; locals often take faster, less obvious routes.
  • Grip varies massively – the hillside holds moisture, so roots and off-cambers stay slick even when it looks dry.
  • Best ridden socially – the vibe here is as much about riding with mates and progressing together as it is speed.
